Alwington – Kingston
Alwington neighbourhood is located in Kingston central.
This is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city with homes dating back to the mid-19th century. There is history in these streets and several noteworthy mansions including the Bellevue House, the former home of Sir John A. MacDonald
It goes without saying that this is prime Kingston real estate. The lake is a short stroll away and on a breezy summer day you will see sailors, kiters and windsurfers out on the lake. There is nothing like Kingston in the summer and this neighbourhood has it all going on. Queen’s University, St. Mary’s of the lake hospital, Kingston General Hospital and many restaurants are just a stone throw away. The homes range in price and size from $650 and up depending on the age/condition. Many of the older homes have been impeccably renovated whilst others are ready for updates. Alwington Place, it’s namesake, is a subdivision built during the 60’s that boasts its own private beach for residents. Its central location, upscale area, proximity to the lake and manicured lawns drive the prices to over the million dollar mark in many cases.
If you want the ability to walk to a nice restaurant, be near the lake, live in a vibrant and interesting community with hospitals and excellent schools nearby, look no further. Nothing “cookie cutter” about this area. This really is Kingston at its heart.
